All Comers (SOPAC)
Daniel Nolan continued to wind the clock back in his 100m effort running a SB in 11.21s followed by the next best Olivia Rose Inkster 11.73s. Newcomer Ellie Fairall ran a 12.75 in a -3.0m/s.
Olly McDonald was the quickest quarter miler in 48.31s followed by Corey Furminger who seems to have recovered well from a shoulder injury earlier in the season. Some of the 100m women backed up in 400m out of the Tom Tellez almanac in the lead up to State Championships. Good to know for when the Relay Championships come around again.
Tom Hunt opened his season in the 400m hurdles in 50.85s as he continues to build in the backend of the season having put some higher profiled races off as he adapts to new training system. Alex Ingevics went 54.03s in the lower 84cm hurdle height and only six hundredths off his 2024 All Schools experience. Isabel Nystrom was the best women hurdler in the absence of Isabella Guthrie (DNS) in 1:01.57 (SB).
Elisabeth Pulis had a few high thirty Discus throws before launching a best effort of 40.85m and take the lead on the club rankings. Cadel Holmes was flying high in the High Jump in 2.05m and tried going one better at 2.11m for three attempts chasing more club records (2.10m) and bragging rights at home.
Olivia Dimech had a good triple jump series, all close or over 12m and an improvement to 12.30m for the season chased closely by Amalia Bond in 11.93m who also did the 100/400 double. Alexander Ayre was not to be outdone with his best performance in round one with 13.34m. Alex fouled in two and three but looks set to chase Jake and Indiana to be the first to break 14m this season.
Summer Series
AIS, Canberra had a different event offering that attracted some over the SOPAC All Comers. Mason Cohen took out the 600m in 1:17.09 and running from the front, just a few tenths off his best of 1:16.37 at Glendale (2019). Having missed the NSW Masters State Championships due to work commitments Monique Perry took advantage of the sprint treble and went one better to claim the 60m State Record in 8.08s having run a windy 8.04s earlier in the season. Monique has one eye on the National record (7.96) as she prepares for AMA Nationals second week in April.
Bronze Tour
Perth Track Classic and the second stop on the Bronze tour saw Kristie Edwards chase a quick Bree Rizzo (11.09) to a windy season best of 11.32s for fourth place in the 100m Dash. Kristie then closed the meet equalling her 200m Dash best in 23.17s. Mali Lovell took advantage of the favourable winds to claim a windy 29.20s result in her 200m (T36 - 96.60%). Next stop of the Tour is Sydney Track Classic 15 March.
