The Albie Thomas Mile was established in 2014 and named after the late Albie Thomas, who was a world record holder in the 2-miles and 3-miles in the 1950s and the first person to run a sub-four minute mile in NSW. In 2025 the prize pool for the Albie Thomas Mile will be $16,000, spread equally across the men's and women's miles and the men's and women's 800m with the following breakdown: 1st - $2,000, 2nd - $1,200 and 3rd - $800.

The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre played host to the Regional 5 Championships that commenced on Friday night with some distance events and finished on Sunday. The Warm Up Track played host to the NSW 5K Champs that were scheduled later in the evening and so supporting events were put of offer for the quicks that favour the warmer track temperatures during the day.
