Andy Burton

IAAF Level 3 Sprints, Hurdles

IAAF Level 3 sprints and hurdles coach - coaching track and field for about 20 years.

The majority of this time has been confined to teaching hurdling and running in Little Athletics. Dozens of those athletes won medals at State Championships and a number of them set NSW and Australian hurdles records, some of which still stand.
Recently a number of those athletes have started competing at ANSW and higher level and the current goal is to help some of the many talented local athletes to reach their full potential at a high level.

In 2013 Bryce Collins and Kat Hunt, both of whom were coached by Andy from a young age, were selected to represent Australia at the Sydney Youth Olympic Festival. They were also included in the Athletics Australia (AA) Youth Development Squad. Both these athletes were subsequently included in the AA Junior Squad. Bryce and Kat were both selected to compete at the World Junior Championships at Eugene, Oregon in the 400mh and sprint hurdles respectively.

More recently Jacinta Fisher has been included in the AA Youth Development Squad as a Multi-Event Athlete and she together with Matt Crowe were selected as hurdlers in the Australian U20 team to contest the Oceania Championships in Rarotonga in June 2014.

Seven hurdlers coached by Andy from a young age are currently in the AA rankings list.
